FAQ

Is the redacted content permanently removed?

Yes. Redaction in SentryPDF is destructive. Content inside redaction boxes is removed from the file, not just visually covered. The underlying data cannot be retrieved from the output PDF.

Can I redact text by selecting it directly?

You can draw redaction boxes over any area of the page preview, covering text, images, or mixed content. The redaction applies to whatever falls within the drawn rectangle.

How do I add redaction boxes?

Upload your PDF, navigate to the page you want to redact, and drag to draw a rectangle over the target content. Add as many boxes as needed across all pages before processing.

Will metadata and embedded files be stripped?

Yes. The redaction process also removes metadata and embedded file attachments from the exported copy, reducing unintended information disclosure.

Should I verify redactions before sharing?

Always. Review the exported PDF in a standard viewer before distributing it. Content outside your redaction boxes remains unchanged and visible.
